The Inbound Sales team is the first point of human contact for prospective customers learning how Mailchimp adds value to their business. The team works with businesses ranging from completely new to digital marketing to those switching from other providers and looking to optimize. The Inbound Sales team is tasked with guiding conversations with prospective customers around the ROI of our platform offerings with features, integrations, pricing, and security, compared to competing marketing platforms. Through speedy relationship and trust building, the team encourages accelerated feature adoption leading to enhanced value from our platform. The leader will have a rare opportunity to help build and scale a Sales Development team from the ground up to support our expanding inside sales team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of the Sales strategy, close collaboration and alignment to marketing and Sales Ops, and enhancing the operational rigor within our teams in order to build a predictable and scalable approach to growing revenue globally.
We’re looking for a candidate who is passionate about Mailchimp and eager to educate prospective customers on Mailchimp’s platform capabilities. An ideal candidate is a good listener who is comfortable asking clarifying questions to uncover prospective customer’s use cases. You will tie prospective customer marketing pain points to Mailchimp solutions while using conversational probing questions to qualify leads and build our pipeline. You will provide prospective customers with fast, accurate answers to their Mailchimp inquiries, informing prospects of the ways Mailchimp can help them become smarter marketers while growing their brand.
This position will report to the VP of Market Growth & International but will interface directly with the Manager(s) of Sales, Manager of Sales Ops, and Director of Marketing. The Manager of Sales Development is responsible for playbook and process development, reporting and tracking, as well as ongoing refinement of our lead qualification criteria.
What you'll do here:
- You will build, lead, and manage a team of talented and diverse SDRs to create qualified opportunities
- Take on operational tasks to help the SDR team perform and exceed expectations.
- Be a source of knowledge and best practices amongst the SDRs, and will help to train, onboard, and mentor new SDRs
- Execute Performance Tracking, Planning, forecasting, and target setting
- Identify and unlock growth initiatives by working cross-functionally
- Provide decision support to the Customer Leadership Team
- Manage and prioritize Sales Development team qualification and response strategy
- Partner with marketing teams to execute strategy as the company introduces enhancements to existing solutions and/or releases new products
- Conduct performance reviews, create development plans, provide mentoring and training, and deliver ongoing performance feedback to direct reports
- Develop additional training and learning programs for your team as needed
- Craft insight-driven strategies to capitalize on opportunities for areas of growth and propose appropriate offerings
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive best fit customers to Mailchimp
- Collaborate on examining customer’s path-to-purchase, across .com, ads, and social touchpoints; recommend strategies and tactics for Inbound Sales Team’s reach
- Utilize strong understanding of SMB’s needs in conjunction with Mailchimp’s capabilities to positively impact conversions
- Share customer insights internally and in external presentations
- Ensure the team has resources and information they need to be successful
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge of Mailchimp
