Job Overview
Vapor IO is seeking a network engineer to help build and maintain its next generation software defined network supporting future 5G and mobile edge computing workloads at massive scale. The candidate should expect and thrive in a highly dynamic environment on a small team whose responsibilities will range from network design to implementation, operations, and support including customer facing systems.
Prior experience in a large backbone carrier, internet service provider, or mobile network is highly preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties * Collaborating with network architects and engineers to implement, maintain, and support the Kinetic Edge network * Assist with day to day network maintenance to include installation, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting. * Troubleshoots network(s), infrastructure, or application issues, identifies root cause, establishes return to service, evaluates/develops/implements/documents mitigation strategies. * Monitor, review, analyze, performance tune, and make recommendations that will result in continued optimization of the network. * Evaluate new security technologies to better improve efficiencies, security posture and meet business objectives * Contribute in creating process, policy and troubleshooting documentation according to company standards.
Qualifications * 3-5 years of production experience in a large, multi-vendor networking environment. Primarily Cisco, Juniper, and Arista. * Working knowledge of advanced networking protocols such at BGP, MPLS, OSPF/IS-IS. * Understanding of optical networking concepts * Ability to leverage open source automation and orchestration for management of a heterogeneous network environment. SALT, NAPALM, Ansible, or Puppet * Ability to communicate and document highly technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences * Python experience a plus * Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience * Industry certifications such as CCNP/JNCIS preferred but not required.
